LG dishwasher error codes

LG dishwashers use the same short two letter codes as LG washing machines, and a few of them are spelled identically while meaning something completely different. OE is a drain fault here and on the washer, but on a Samsung dishwasher the same two letters mean the opposite: too much water rather than none leaving. Check the badge on the door before you buy a part.

Stop the machine if you see these

AE means water or electrical trouble rather than a blockage. Turn the tap off, unplug the machine and read the page before running another cycle.

Will not run		The machine did not take on enough water within the fill time it allows itself.1E

Stop now		The float in the base of the machine found water, and the flood protection has shut everything down.E1 FE AE(RE)

LE

Will not run		The control board is not getting the response it expects from the wash motor.CE

Will not run		The Vario motor that switches water between the upper and lower spray arms is not reporting back.

HE

Safe to use		The water did not reach the temperature the cycle needs in the time allowed.

tE

Will not run		The temperature sensor is reporting a reading the board treats as impossible, or the water genuinely overheated.

bE

Safe to use		The machine has detected far more foam than a wash should produce.

Things that look like faults but are not

These stop people mid-wash and send them looking for a repair. None of them needs one.

CL

Child lock, not a fault. The controls are locked so a child cannot start or stop a cycle. Hold the button marked with a lock, or the two buttons the door label points at, for about three seconds to turn it off.

PF

The power went off part way through a cycle. Nothing is broken. Start the cycle again; if this keeps happening without the rest of the kitchen losing power, have the socket and the breaker looked at rather than the machine.
2H, or any number from 01 to 24
A delay start is running and the number is the hours left before the cycle begins. 2H means the estimated time remaining is under two hours. Press Cancel or hold Start to clear it.

CR

The machine is in test mode, usually because a button combination was pressed by accident. Cut the power for a minute and it comes back in normal mode.
n:xx, u:xx or d:xx
Firmware version information, shown during a diagnostic or after an update. Not an error and nothing to act on.

The cycle has been cancelled and the machine is draining before it stops. It clears itself in a couple of minutes.
