What is genuinely useful to send

A code that behaves differently on your machine. Include the model number from the sticker inside the door or on the back panel. A code that means one thing on one generation and another on the next is exactly the kind of mistake a reference like this can make, and we would rather hear it from you.

A repair quote you were given. The price ranges here are built from national surveys, and real invoices make them better. Say which part, which appliance and roughly where in the country.

A code that is missing. Tell us the brand, the appliance and what the display shows. We publish it once it is confirmed, not before.

Anything that looks wrong. Broken links, a step that does not match the machine, a warning that is missing where it should be.

What we cannot do

We cannot diagnose your machine over email. There is no way to hear the noise it makes or see what came out of the filter, and guessing from a distance is how people end up buying parts they did not need. The pages here are built to get you through the same checks a technician would run, in the same order.

We do not sell parts, book repairs or recommend particular repair companies, and nobody pays to be mentioned on this site.

Who runs this

An independent reference, not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any appliance manufacturer. Brand names are used only to identify the appliances the codes belong to. How pages are researched and verified is described in how we check codes.
