Questions people ask
- What does E17 mean on a Bosch washing machine?
- Not enough water reached the drum in the time the machine allows for filling. The cycle will not start or will stop early, but nothing is damaged and there is no leak. In most cases this is the cheapest fault on the whole list to fix, and you will fix it yourself in about ten minutes. Start here: check the tap is fully open.
- What does E17 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?
- The machine took in more water than the programme called for. Stop. Unlike a fill fault, this one means water is arriving when it should not be, and the next step after an overfill is water on the floor. Close the supply valve under the sink before doing anything else. Start here: close the supply valve and unplug the machine.
Do not see your machine? We publish a brand only once its codes are confirmed against manufacturer documentation and a second independent source. That is slower than guessing, and it is the whole point of the site.
This is not a coincidence of one code: we compared every code that appears on more than one brand and found that several mean the opposite depending on the badge.
